It used to be that we took privacy for granted. It’s a rare find these days. For a variety of reasons, an almost infinite number of agencies and companies collect your online data. Accessing the internet through a VPN (virtual private network) that masks your IP address and activity is one way to maintain your privacy. Perfect Privacy’s VPN services have been steadily increasing in popularity for some time. I decided to put their technology to the test to see if the hype was justified. I bought the software and ran it through all of the available tests to see how well it performed in terms of security and speed. I also compared Perfect Privacy to other VPN providers to see if the asking price is reasonable. Finally, I looked for Perfect Privacy VPN customer reviews on the internet. After all, how could I take my own experience with it as the sole source of truth? This Perfect Privacy VPN review is the result of my research. Let’s take a look and see if it’s as good as it sounds.
What Is Perfect Privacy?
Perfect Privacy is a VPN provider dedicated to its users’ privacy. It is without a doubt a well-known brand name in the online security and anonymity industry. It has been on the market since 2008 and operates outside of the 14 Eyes alliance in Switzerland. The company’s owner’s office is in Panama, which is a great location for privacy. Apart from the VPN service, Perfect Privacy has a number of open-source security testing tools developed in-house. Clients can choose from a variety of servers located in 23 countries around the world. The servers offer IPv6 addresses and bandwidth of up to 1000 MBps.
Perfect Privacy VPN Essentials – Speed, Security, and Privacy.
Because speed and security are two of the most important aspects of any VPN service, it’s only natural to look into them. VPN services, on the other hand, should not compromise your privacy. After all, this is a significant portion of the price you’re paying. Nonetheless, it’s not uncommon for a VPN provider to gladly share your data with a government agency, for example. This is why it’s also a good idea to check out their privacy policies.
1. Speed
My speed tests showed definite room for improvement. A Romanian server gave me the best result. (which was also the closest to my physical location) showed a 40 percent speed drop, which was still disappointing. I only got 60 MBps from Bucharest, despite my average speed of 100 MBps.
I lost almost 60% in Europe and the US. Download speeds of 40-45 Mbps were recorded in Amsterdam, Berlin, and Los Angeles. However, the upload speed was faster.
When I connected to a server in Tokyo, Japan, my speed decreased considerably (by 75 percent).
Conclusion: When you use a VPN, you can almost always expect your speed to suffer. Perfect Privacy still performed poorly in our speed tests even with this in mind. If speed is important to you, there are certainly better VPN services available.
Security
Exceptional Privacy A DNS leak test reveals that no DNS requests are leaked. There were also no IP leaks. I used several tools to test the service, and none of them revealed any security issues. One feature I liked was the ability to choose between three DNS leak protection options. You can have it on
- only while connected to a server,
- whenever the app is active
- you can activate the protection permanently, even when the VPN client is inactive
The ability to manually select your DNS server from the ones offered by the company is another nice perk. Perfect Privacy VPN includes a built-in firewall that acts as a killswitch. It will ensure that no data is sent over an unencrypted network from your computer. This killswitch can also protect against DNS leaks in any of the three modes we have available. You can also configure the firewall to protect your home router in the same way. It can prevent IP leaks via SNMP or XSS, which can occur with some routers, by blocking access to your local gateway. Perfect Privacy’s IPv6 leak protection is available after you download it. IPv6 isn’t available from all ISPs, and you won’t necessarily need it, but it’s still a good idea to have it. For those who prefer, the software also includes a variety of security protocols such as Socks5, Squid, PPTP, and IPSec. The PPTP protocol also has MPPE-128-bit encryption and uses the DC4 cryptographic algorithm.
Additional Security
I admire a company that goes above and beyond to ensure the safety of its customers. The creators of this technology are to be commended. There’s a pleasant surprise waiting for you after you purchase the software and log in to the Perfect Privacy member login page. You also get additional security features and tools in addition to the VPN service. TrackStop filter allows you to improve your online experience by enabling adblocking, child protection, social media filtering, and other filters. There’s also NeuroRouting, a TensorFlow-based neural network that continuously analyzes current internet routing and determines the most secure route, whether it’s using a random exit IP address, default port forwarding, or custom port forwarding. Last but not least, the Perfect Privacy VPN review concludes with this section. Up to four servers with additional proxy and SSH tunnels can be used to cascade your VPN connection. Most other VPN providers don’t provide this option at all, and those that do only provide up to two hops. Perfect Privacy also uses the AES-256 algorithm for top-notch encryption. Conclusion: When it comes to security, Perfect Privacy checks all the boxes. You’ll be hard-pressed to find a VPN service that is more secure.
Privacy
Perfect Privacy adheres to a strict no-log policy. The company claims to keep no data at all, except for billing and customer service information. There is also a warrant canary section on the website, which states that your activity is kept private. It’s that simple. Conclusion: Perfect Privacy lives up to its name by not logging any user activity.
Perfect Privacy Pros
The Perfect Privacy bundle manages to offer other benefits despite being extremely secure and having a strict no-logging policy.
Mask Your Traffic with Stealth VPN
This is a cool one: you can make your VPN connection appear to be a regular one. By posing as regular, unencrypted traffic, the Stealth VPN option gets around network censorship in restricted countries.
Cascade Through Multiple VPN Servers
This feature distinguishes Perfect Privacy VPN from other VPN services available online. It’s a rare perk to be able to cascade through up to four servers. Additionally, for each hop, you will receive additional proxy and SSH tunnels. You can expect a slowdown in your internet speed as a result of this. The speed dropped by 90% after cascading through four servers. This is to be expected, given that the feature is essentially a trade-off between speed and security. As you hop through more servers, it’s natural for your connection speed to slow down. This is, without a doubt, a fantastic feature! (even with the penalty for speeding)
Available on Many Devices
Perfect Privacy VPN is available for Android (see below), Windows, Linux, Mac, and IOS, depending on your device. What is more, the VPN can be easily configured on your router.
A Wide Variety of Protocols
Perfect Privacy offers a number of different connectivity options. There were no leaks that I discovered, and their protocols are top-notch.
TrackStop – a Feature-Rich Ad-Blocker
The personal ad-blocker from Perfect Privacy not only blocks annoying ads, but it also protects you from malware and phishing sites. Finally, it includes parental controls, cookie protection, and the ability to activate multiple blocklists at the same time.
AI-Based Routing Neurorouting
“NeuroRouting” is proudly presented by PerfectPrivacy. Their own special feature allows traffic to stay as long as possible in the encrypted VPN network by routing it to the VPN server closest to the destination. It was created with AI in mind to ensure that your traffic is only exposed to the internet when absolutely necessary, reducing the number of potential attack points.
A Bird’s Eye View of Server Loads Across the Network
Unlike many other VPN services, their website allows you to see the server load in real-time. The maximum speed of each server can be found on the application itself. You can also see if the server you’re trying to connect to supports IPv6. The majority of them do.
Money-Back Guarantee
If you are dissatisfied with the software for any reason, you can request a refund within seven days of purchase.
Perfect Privacy Cons
Perfect Privacy may be perfect in terms of security and privacy, but there are some drawbacks to the service.
Price
The prices and plans are listed below, and when compared to the prices of top VPN providers such as NordVPN ($3.71/mo), Surfshark ($2.49/mo), and ExpressVPN ($8.32/mo), $8.95/mo appears to be excessive. The problem has even been addressed on the company’s website. Unfortunately, as is often the case, better quality products come at a higher price. This Perfect Privacy VPN review should have made it clear that this software has its advantages. It’s up to you to decide whether they’re worth the money…
There is no live chat available.
When I write reviews, I always put customer service to the test. Perfect Privacy is an odd case. The company has gone to great lengths to make its software one of the safest on the internet, with plenty of features and top-notch encryption – yet it lacks live chat support. Email, forum, TeamViewer, and a FAQ and manuals library are the four types of support offered by the company. I emailed them asking if I could use one of the Perfect Privacy VPN Netflix streaming servers (if they have any). Except for the ambiguous response (“some may work, some may not”), my interaction with the support team was positive, and the email response time was acceptable – everything was answered in less than two hours. Weekend responses, on the other hand, are slow. If you have a problem on a Friday evening, you may not get a response until Monday afternoon. The inclusion of TeamViewer assistance is a nice touch. This is by far the most efficient way for support technicians to assist you without wasting time exchanging emails. Keep in mind that this service is only available during certain hours. Conclusion: Support is adequate if a little slow. You should expect to wait an hour or two for a response.
There is no free trial available.
A Perfect Privacy VPN free trial is not available for download. The only way to test the software is to purchase a one-month plan for $13. The company also offers a 7-day money-back guarantee, which helps to compensate for the lack of a trial.
Interface Shortcomings
The client is simple, user-friendly, and well-organized. It reminded me of something from the “Windows 98” era at first. To be honest, I didn’t think it was attractive. However, because of its simplicity, it grows on you after some time with it. I put the UI in the Cons section of this Perfect Privacy VPN review because I don’t think most users, especially first-timers, will find it appealing. It has an odd and old vibe to it. It surely isn’t a deal-breaker, but if you like more fancy interfaces, or enjoy the casing more than the content, you should think twice before purchasing a long-term plan. There’s one more thing that shouldn’t be a big deal for most users, but it may irritate some. On Windows operating systems, the software can only be installed in C:. The installation’s location cannot be changed.
Perfect Privacy VPN Price
One of the Perfect Privacy`s biggest issues is its expensive pricing across the board.
You may choose between:
- 1 month for $12.99
- 1 year – $9.99
- 2 years – $8.95
Subscribing for a longer period, as with most VPN services, results in greater overall savings. Although you won’t be able to download a free version of Perfect Privacy, you will have a wide range of payment options. MasterCard, Visa, American Express, and UnionPay are all options. They also accept PayPal and Bitcoin as payment methods. As previously stated, there is a 7-day money-back guarantee, which is inadequate. Other VPN providers provide a 30-day or even 45-day money-back guarantee (check our CyberGhost review). Still, a seven-day trial is preferable to nothing.
Perfect Privacy VPN Review – Verdict
It’s not all roses when it comes to perfect privacy. You’d have to get past the high price, slow customer service, and basic interface. Hopefully, you’ll be able to do so because, beneath those flaws, there’s a good VPN service that provides excellent security and privacy. There’s a lot more to like about it, as it comes with a lot of extra features. Overall, Perfect Privacy performs admirably where it counts, and I strongly recommend it.
